CKBQ: ALT Considerations

"Captain Kirk", a Navy Pilot, is who the kid wants to grow up to be.  That's what the title track refers too.  My  photo shoot with "KIRKBALL" yielded some great lessons in studio portraits and working with models.  He for the most part was responsive and cordial, but had his moments just the same.  We were looking to capture his expression of reckless abandon for life and excitement and everyday goodtimes.  Through several days in a makeshift studio we heard sea stories of his Navy adventures.  His character defined itself and we captured it.  These are some strong alternative to the album cover we ultimately settled on.  Captain Kirk was pleased.  The Beauty Queen was not.  She after all, only got a token nod on an inside panel.

  1. The first one is the best I'd say. The rest look like that "head" is cut... not very positive

  2. I still like the selected one the best! Although the angles are nice

  3. I'm not sure about the "not positive" thing. I worked out some 1400 photos in those three days dialing it in. Cropping and composing these to fit album art dimension gets tough when you have considerations for titles and a pilot's scarf. haha- we do what we do.

  4. It's just my opinion. First impression of the photo. I'm not aware of all those photography details. It seems, as you had much fun with that job :)

  5. Captain Kirk and I did have a lot of fun. Beauty Queen was a bit peeved that she was so left out. Kirk go the title track on the album... he became the star... It was his day...
