into the distance

500mm f8.9 1/800s ISO:100
The view west from atop Table Rock over the Linville Gorge in the Southern Appalachian Mountains.

  1. That's lovely. Did you photoshop it a little for the grainy effect?

  2. Thank you Barb. I did do some processing to this shot. It got a slight crop as I fit it into my usual blog scale of 16:10. I did some dodge/burn to adjust the shadow lines and better define the distant peaks. The grain is mostly a byproduct of hiking with a point and shoot camera with a small CCD sensor. When I get zoomed out the image gets grainy. Then it gets accentuated a bit when I tweak the photo. So it is a decision to tweak like I did and accept the graininess...

I mean, uh, yeah... I did the graininess on purpose. ;)
