Roan Mountain, Tennessee
Allison and I were out on a drive one afternoon near the state line of North Carolina and Tennessee. We came across a small and old graveyard fence off at the edge of the woods. It was ordinary in most every way for these small plots in rural areas. We saw the same three or four family names repeated on headstones going back 100 years. There was the one set of stones that perplexed us a good bit. These were side by side and offered no explanation. To clarify the dates here...

What do you think?
Twins? One died at birth, and either in honor of the first child or for some other reason we can only imagine, the second child was also named Willie. Sad story, no matter how happened.
ReplyDeleteI was going to say the same...twins.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure there is a very sad story behind them.
I sure can't make any reasoning for it myself. I've researched it in online data sources. Next I'll be forced to go to the county seat to research public records.
ReplyDeleteHere we go people... Ken Turner pulled together the answer for us. Thanks Ken.
