lion's teeth

Dandelions are thought to have evolved about thirty million years ago in Eurasia; they have been used by humans for food and as a herb for much of recorded history. They were introduced to North America by early European immigrants.  The English name dandelion is a corruption of the French dent de lion meaning "lion's tooth", referring to the coarsely toothed leaves.

  2. it's the dandelion leaves that drive the namesake. It's also interesting that the entire plant is edible; leaves, roots, petals and all.

  4. I have my laptop back and am working at getting my software packages reinstalled. Juggling everything gets tough. The warmer weather will keep me inspired to bring on new images. I have some ideas for a couple of series. Time to get started.
